About, Rasa Mateviciute, rasadesign.art, rasadesign. Artist in Brockley

Rasa Mateviciute is Lithuanian visual artist, currently based in South London, Brockley.

Lithuanian visual artist Rasa Mateviciute began her creative journey in Lithuania, where she studied Recreational Architecture at Klaipeda University, developing an early foundation in design and visual thinking.

Her exploration of photography started in 2012 as a hobby, gradually evolving into a powerful medium for expressing her ideas. Over time, she began integrating photography with her interests in home décor and illustration, using it as a tool to construct thoughtful, visually rich compositions. Her work is defined by a meticulous attention to detail, with a focus on color, props, mood, and layered storytelling.

Rasa’s creative process often begins with intuitive, hand-drawn sketches inspired by natural forms. These drawings are then photographed and digitally transformed into vector illustrations using Adobe Illustrator. Through this process, she refines shapes, figures, and color palettes, building compositions that balance precision with expressive depth. She also experiments with a variety of materials and techniques, adding texture and dimension to her work.

Her illustration style spans pop art, figurative minimalism, and elements of conceptual and abstract expressionism. Her artworks frequently feature women—sometimes depicted in abstract nude forms—alongside diverse figures and anthropomorphized animals, reflecting themes of identity, emotion, and human connection.

Beyond her studio practice, Rasa is passionate about restoring old picture frames and repurposing found objects sourced from antique shops, markets, and charity stores. She reimagines these pieces as part of her artwork or incorporates them into her home environment, extending her artistic vision into everyday life.

Now based in South London, Rasa draws much of her inspiration from areas such as Deptford, Greenwich, and Blackheath. Her practice continues to evolve as she explores new materials, techniques, and ways of visual storytelling.
